How to Become a Trader on HedgeStreet?
As described in the two previous articles in this series, Derivatives and the Common Investor and HedgeStreet, Hedgelets, and the Hedging of Everyday Risks, HedgeStreet™ (www.hedgestreet.com) is a breakthrough trading opportunity for the common investor. HedgeStreet’s unique financial instruments, called Hedgelets™, allow traders to hedge or speculate on a wide range of underlying events that financially impact their everyday lives—from interest rates to real estate prices to commodity prices to exchange rates.
This article describes the simple process of becoming a trader on HedgeStreet.
Open a HedgeStreet Account with a $500 Deposit
To become a member of the HedgeStreet Exchange, all you need to do is:
- Go to www.hedgestreet.com
- Click on the Open Account button.
- Choose a username and password.
- Provide the necessary account information.
- Submit your account application electronically.
- Fund your account electronically (via eValuCheck™ or a wire transfer). The minimum requirement to begin trading is $500 dollars.
- When you receive an email saying your account application is approved, you can log in and trade.
Once you’ve initially funded your account, you have full trading privileges on HedgeStreet. You can buy any Hedgelets you wish, as long as you have sufficient funds in your account. You can sell Hedgelets you own during market hours. And after your initial $500 deposit, there is no minimum account balance.
The “Anytime, Anywhere” Ease of Online Trading
Trading on HedgeStreet is as simple as becoming a HedgeStreet member. All current Hedgelets are listed by category in the Research & Trade section of the HedgeStreet web site, www.hedgestreet.com. Browse the markets, view the bids and offers, and either make a trade, or enter an order with just a few clicks of your mouse. The only requirement for buying Hedgelets is that you have the necessary funds in your account, and the only requirement for selling Hedgelets is that you have the Hedgelets in your account. You can view your cash and Hedgelet positions online at any time.
Every Hedgelet has an expiration date and time, when trading is halted prior to settlement. Settlement occurs soon after expiration, when the underlying event has been determined to have occurred or not to have occurred. At settlement, your account will automatically be credited with $10 per every “in-the-money” Hedgelet (i.e., a Hedgelet which correctly predicted the outcome of the underlying event), and $0 per “out-of-the-money” Hedgelet.
You can browse the HedgeStreet markets online at any time. Currently, the market is open for trading 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET Monday - Friday.
To find out how simple and powerful an investment tool Hedgelets can be, just go to www.hedgestreet.com and have a look around. There's a Getting Started section with plenty of explanatory information, background materials, and demos. And as a non-member, you can do everything in the Trading section but trade.
